Opera 10.54 on Windows 98 SE by

Wendell wrote recently in microsoft.public.win98.apps:
After updating msimg32.dll on Windows 98 SE, Opera 10.54 appears
to install and run without any problems. Without updating the DLL,
Opera will still run, but gives an error message about the
transparency feature.
I always find it...

Generic video (VGA) driver? by
Lostgallifreyan
Does such a legendary beast exist for W98?
It seems that at least 1024x768 in 16 bit colour is a standard few monitors
can't do now. A generic driver could default low, and let the user set higher
standards for a short test, keeping the setting if it works (W98 allows that
anyway).
When I look...

Recently had all sorts of apps crashing with invalid page faults. I
made the mistake of running scandisk, which found and "fixed" numerous
errors - cross-linked files typically.
Long story investigation, memtest86+ revealed a squillion errors...

UPDATE: A Universal USB Flash Drive Driver by
[email protected]
Hi,
I updated the "JDUSBMS.INF" file for the Lexar Jump Drive driver again, but
this time, in the second listing, I added the PID, "A761" to the bottom of the
second listing. Before, I did not add it to the bottom (before the bottom).
Apparently, this made the difference!
By golly, now I...

Damage using a serial cable to connect 2 PC's? by
thanatoid
Hello again,
I have a basic question: is there any way I can damage either
the serial port circuitry OR the MB itself by incorrectly (wrong
pinouts, bad cable, link program doing something to the machine,
etc.) when trying if a DB-9 serial cable with a null modem
adapter will work?
I am...

List of latest version DLL's? by
Lostgallifreyan
Does anyone know of a list of W98 DLL's, showing the latest known version of
each? Better yet, ALL known versions? Best of all: an archive of the latest
known DLL's? :) If so, please point me to it.

locate the download "button".
Also, Thanks to everyone for your responses, John

Hi thanatoid,
Thanks for the offer.
Another responder said he had no trouble locating it to download, but he
did not provide a link!!!!
I may give it one more try in the next day or so, but if I can't find it,
would you mind sending it to me via email attachment? Note: The

Hi Thanatoid,
I am assuming that the version of Foxit you have has a "Search"
function that actually "works".
I searched the web for Foxit 2.0 Build 1516 to download it, but
I failed to accomplish my "mission". There were references to that
version I found via Google, some foreign sites,...

Detailed anatomy/dissection of W98 SE? by
Lostgallifreyan
Summary: I want to find details enabling me to make a small W98 base install.
Hello (to anyone willing to read this). I've used 98-Lite, and decided to try
for something really small. Wading through a 'reduced' registry of 485KB has
lost its appeal. :)
I have experimented with the Nano98 file...

A Universal USB Flash Drive Driver by

Hi,
I buy only Lexar "Jump Drives" (USB flash drive) because I was able to
update the "JDUSBMS.INF" file with the PID number of the new JD so I can use
it on my Win98se computers. Note: I get the PID number via "USBVIEW.EXE" on
a WinXP computer.
Recently, I bought 2 (on sale) JDs...

Looking for a Good .PDF File Reader by

Hi,
One or two years ago, I downloaded Foxit Reader V2.3 Build 4015.
This allows me to view the new format .PDF files, but I am unable to
"Search" through the document due to a flaw in the Search function.
I am willing to pay for a version of Foxit that doesn't have this issue,
but my...

Hi Hot-text,
I assumed everyone knew I have the Win98 Lexar driver because of
my reference to "JDUSBMS.INF" which is part of the driver "package".
I downloaded those driver files from your site and every one matches
what I already have except "JDUSBMS.INF". My file is larger due to

Hello again,
This is about a 1997 PCChips M572 MB, a Belkin 2 port USB card,
and USB drivers to get the whole thing to work. It appears quite
a few people HAVE done it, but I have had very limited success,
and have yet to see a stick flashing after being plugged in.
I should mention I have...
