Can Not Connect by
George Lawshe
I have three computers on a wired LAN in my house, two are using Windows
2000 and they connect to the network OK. The Internet works fine and I can
do file sharing between the two.
However, I am running Windows 98 on the third computer and I can get on the
Internet, but I can not get on the...

SBC/Yahoo DSL down after Win98se upgrade. by
dylan
I'm such a rusty fool. I upgraded a friend's PC
from Win98 to Win98SE using the upgrade CD that
came with the tower (it's a late-'90s Compaq) and
since then, the computer hasn't been able to find
the modem.
With my own network, I've got screenshots and
printouts of all my settings in the event...

At present I have a simple network by joining my PCs with a crossover cable
and I can access Wanadoo Broadband from either as long as both are switched
on.
If I altered my system using a router which would allow each to access the
Internet separately without the other being switched on, would...

Downloaded the latest critical Windows patches this morning, and now
can't connect to anything. I'm guessing maybe the patch blew away the
networking settings, and I have no idea what they're supposed to be.
Setup is: Windows 98 PC connected to wireless router/firewall,

Change Win98se user name & password by
SeaMaid
When you install Win98se, you have to create a user name and password. This
is used to log onto Windows.
1. How to I change the user name?
2. How do I change the password?
There is also a computer name, share names, and password for networked
shares, but those do not need to be changed.

Win98SE --- WinXP by
Gert Baars
For a private network between 2 WIN98se systems I used Netbeui with good
results. Now on one system I have WinXP installed and am trying to
reestablish connection. Do I need an other protocol for this?
If you can tell me I appreciated this. Please reply directly to my

Have an old win 98 (non SE) machine I want to add to my home network with an

thinking of 'upgrading' the beast, however it is an OEM E machine that has...
