networking ME to win 7 via router by
Rockytsquirrel
Greetings,
Got a win 7 machine last month and was hoping to network it with the older
ME machines (2 in current network).
However each attempt the win 7 machine asks for passwords and such
which the networked ME machines
never used..
I'm not big on networks, any suggestions would be...

To all the friends I've made (and even to some I've unmade) in these forums,
Goodbye, Good Luck - and see you on the flipside!
I am now using the NNTP Bridge (both of them!) to access the Answers and MS
forums. It's buggy, but it's still better than 'naked' access in terms of...

new entry in context menu gone by
Michael Romes
A while after installing new video drivers I noticed that the "new"
entry in my context menu (that which appears if I rightclick in a
folder) is gone.
When using Google I find a lot of articles about adding that entry to
Windows98SE by editing the registry - but I found nothing specific to...

Oh a tree in motion! by
Big Monkey Man
What gets me is that Helen Shapiro! 'Walking Back to Happiness' starts off
great, then turns into something by a middle-aged male Jewish wide boy -
say, Michael Winner. Oyvay! She obviously had a lovely singing voice but was
managed by someone only interested in the width. And Smokey Robinson's...

Ping: Mart by
webster72n
Hello Mart (from Vista):
Remember you being an 'AVG' fan and me preferring 'Avast', pertaining to
'ME'?
Now that I am in WinVista I wound up installing AVG, after removing McAfee
and it is performing nicely.
Harry.

Rising Anti-Virus Free query by
Hugh Doherty
I need a new free anti-virus program to work with my beloved WinMe, and
Rising Anti-virus Free and Avast seem to be the only ones around.
Avast stops support for WinMe at the end of this year, leaving Rising
as my best bet. Anyone with experience with Rising Free? Good? Bad?

about 3 seconds. Barely enough time to view it. Is there a way to increase
the time it is displayed? Thanks for your help.

I saw Harry's reply at Google Groups and opened OE to respond - to the
effect that the article gave the link to the author's site and part of the
point of linking to the article is that the reader reads it. Also that if
you can't bring yourself to trust this guy's plug-in then really you should...

I decided to boot my Windows Me from the start-up disk because it would not
boot normally or in Safe Mode but instead displayed the error message:"An I/O
subsystem driver failed to load. Either a file in the .\iosubsystem
subdirectory is corrupt or the system is low on memory. Replace the disk...

still working by
Motor T
So far, so good. I'm reading and posting through nntp.aioe.org. Don't
know how long it will last. It's sad the way this world seems to work.
As we get older the younger generations seem to cast us aside. It
appears they think of us as 'irrelevant, obsolete'. I'm beginning to
hate those...

PING Silj......AdAware 1.05 (ptui!!) by

I am so fed up with the damn thing freezing up on me (usually about 600
files in) that I have now removed it totally and will just stick with
Spybot.
1.04 was awful and 1.03 froze a time or two......so whatever they are doing,
they ain't doing it right (as the Loon would say). Give me back the...

To get a good handle on what Avast really had in mind for the end of the

get support after 1/1/10. Part of their reply:
Thank you for your email, and your interest in avast! antivirus products.
We are sorry, the...
