1-way 98/XP network access problem by

The following is strange, at least to me. I have three PCs (XP SP2, W98SE, &
W98) wired together to a hub. I recently had to "repair" W98SE (reinstall
from the original CD without reformatting the drive).
At the moment, I get full access to *all* 3 computers from my XP SP2 and W98

10038 socket operation on non-socket by
Bill H.
i'm told that this is a problem with the operation system, which is win98
2nd ed.
I can't figure out how to fix. The option to restore winsock 1.1 is NOT in
add/remove programs, as suggested by MS KB.
And I can't find a program to reinstall winsock 2.0 , if that is even what I
need.
What to do?

12 char limit for shares W98SE by
MikeP
There is quite a lot of documentation around that suggests that Windows 98
and any earlier releases cannot map or connect to shares with names longer
than 12 characters. A couple of sources suggest Windows ME also operates
under the same limits. However we regularly do this with Windows 98...

1Gbit over NetBeui? by
Chris
Hello:
I just picked up two AOpen 1Gbit network cards and a 1Gbit crossover cable.
The setup works but, I'm only getting 10MB/sec transfer rate. I've set both
cards for 1000 full duplex. Is 10MB/sec the max. transfer rate for NetBeui
or am I missing some other setting? I've also tried Jumbo...
