MSIE5 crashing on exit - 98SE - how to reinstall by
budgie
Yep, I still use plain IE5 as it came with 98SE. (Not my browser of first
choice, but some sites seem to dislike Nutscrape).
Of late, after shutting down IE, an error msg box appears anything from 10 secs
to several minutes later. "iexplore.exe has ...".
If I try to shutdown the pooter after...

98SE Taskbar oddity ... by
budgie
In the first installation of 98SE on this machine, the task bar could be dragged
up to double height and the the task tabs would rearrange using both "lines" if
there were a sufficient number of them. This description may sound vague but it
is from memory.
Since a reinstall (well over a year...

WinExplorer - two entries for C: - help! by
budgie
To resolve some otherwise intractable issues, I've just nuked the C: drive on my
kids' box and reinstalled 98SE. No big deal.
However, Windows Explorer now shows duplicate entries in the left pane for the
C: drive. If I select C: in the left pane, the right pane only shows the one
entry, but...

How/where to locate drivers for nVidia Riva TNT2 in 98SE - Heeeelp! by
budgie
Normally I am able to locate drivers for fairly much any hardware for a PC.
This time, fresh install of 98SE and the box has a Gigabyte GA-622-32C flavour
of nVidia Riva TNT2 M64 video card. I have just spent four hours trawling the
web, and discovered that this card is more generic than corn...

Scandisk surface scan - how to clear the flag by
budgie
I have a 40G Maxtor C: drive which *very* occasionally seems to power down and
restart spontaneously. This is maybe once a month. A flag is obviously set, as
Scandisk (98SE) is invoked at the next boot and not only does the quick scan but
wants to do the full surface scan.
Every time I have let...

budgie
I have IE properties set to "run: maximised" (as i do with almost all apps).
However, if I right click a link in the IE window and choose "open in new

On the sound card, look for a sticker with an FCC ID
number. Then go to
