PCMCIA Card to USB 1 Adapter by
[email protected]
Hi,
I bought a Win95 laptop around 1996. This laptop does NOT have
a USB port. Years later, I installed Win98se to replace Win95.
It has a FDD (floppy disk drive) and CD drive. Also has two PCMCIA card
slots. The FDD no longer "works". I searched for an external FDD that
connects to...

Where are the desktop icon settings stored in 98se? by
[email protected]
Windows 98se
I have a lot of icons on my desktop. Every once and awhile they get all
jumbled up, and it takes me nearly an hour to straighten them up. I have
a specific order I have them so I can find them quickly. I have never
figured how they get messed up and probably never will....
What...

Can onl;y open ONE window of Firefox by
[email protected]
I posted this days ago, as part of another thread, and never got any
reply.
I mentioned removing K-Meleon, which was my default browser for years,
but no longer works properly with the HTTPS sites.
But now it seems I have a bigger problem. Firefox is the default and
only browser in use now. This...

Cant switch default browser by
[email protected]
I'm running Win98se. For many years my default browser was K-Meleon, and
I also had the highest (usable in 98) version of Firefox installed. (FF
version 3.x).
K-Meleon no longer works on almost any website, and the upgrades for it
are only for XP and higher.
I want to switch and make Firefox the...

New HDD, has corrupted Data - AGAIN by
[email protected]
Ok, As most of you know, I had a partition go bad on one of my drives
and I lost much of the data on it, because I did not have a current
backup. I got rid of that hard drive, even after a re-format showed it
to be usable and not have bad sectors.
This is an old IBM brand computer from about 2001....

Firefox version 2 and 3 goes into OFFLINE MODE by
[email protected]
Running Win98se and I am stuck with using Firefox 2.x or 3.x. (with
Kernel EX). Although Kernel EX says I can use (I think), up to version
6, that has never worked well. I just stick with ver 3.x.
This has driven me nuts for years. I never have understood why Firefox
goes into OFFLINE MODE about...

Confusing Hard Drive jumpers (PATA or IDE) by
[email protected]
I bought a new IDE (also called PATA) hard drive on ebay. It's a white
label drive, model WL120PATA872.
I;m beginning to think it's defective. I have never had all this trouble
partitioning and formatting a hard drive.
Part of the problem is that it has TWO sets of jumper settings on the
label....

Cant access some of a Partition by

It appears that one of my hard drives is going to crap. It's my second
(slave) drive, which has 3 partitions on it. 120gb IDE drive. Formatted
to Fat32. This is a Win98se computer.
Oddly, from Dos, I can see all the folders in that partition. From
Windows, I only see about half of them. This...

What is a OTF file? by
[email protected]
I downloaded a batch of fonts that were in ZIP files. Out of about 40
files, three of them did not have a TTF file inside the Zip, but instead
had OTF files. What the hell is a OTF file? They wont open in
Windows98se.
