there a problem with SP2? The wizard cannot install the files on my 98SE
computer using the XP disc - message says cannot identify any any hardware
eventhough it is all running OK and I can access broadbanmd connection...

printer doesn't spool by
Mary[_2_]
I have recently upgraded to Windows XP with SP2. I have a DeskJet 722c
printer which requires the OS to take care of all the printing
processing. The only thing this printer does is power up the carraige
and ink. It does not have a chip inside it. In windows 98se it had
always spooled the print...

Phantom connections causing problems by
Larry[_6_]
Apology for a longish post. Is there a way to force supposedly open
files to be closed so they can be backed up?
This involves Win98 on peer-to-peer network. One computer is
"designated" server and has the main application and data accessed by
the other computers in the workgroup, whose OSes...

TCP/IP AND NETBEUI by
[email protected]
We all know that when we search the Internet we use TCP/IP protocol to
communicate with other computers around the globe. But sometimes we use
Netbeui protocol too. Someone told me that the Netbeui protocol is very
efficient protocol to use when you are using in a quite small LAN. And
do not need...

NetBios & Client for Microsoft Networks by

Have a minimal DSL connection running but was seeing some suspicious
UDP port activity hitting the software firewall (which claimed to block
everything). I was especially dismayed to see that an occasional packet
was outbound. Looked again at the TCP/IP settings for the NIC and
noticed that the...

Detecting network start by
abcd
Hello,
I would like to run a batch, once, every time the network is
connected. But the task scheduler seems not to have this possibility
"network connected". It can at windows start. Not at network start.
(it's a modem, not a LAN)
Any good idea is good to try. Thanks.

DHCP problem Windows 98 by
Kailash
Hi!
I have Windows 98 workstations in a network with a DHCP enabled but they are
picking the 255.255.0.0 mask instead of 255.255.255.0. I also have WinXP
workstations which are however picking up the correct address.
Anyone one had an idea on what's causing the mismatch?
Thanks

Is there a way to download directly to another computer on a 2 computer

previously pulled out of Network Neighborhood and thus to the relevant
