File size limit when copying to FireWire external HD? by
Red Chair
Running Windows 98SE. I attached a hard drive to a FireWire card and,
after marking it as removable (thus disabling write-behind caching,
which was causing some problems), it seemed to be working OK.
EXCEPT when I try to copy large files to it. I'm thinking the limit
might be 32MB ... 27MB files...

Flash drives by
Curt Christianson
Hi Brad, It seems to me that just a couple of days ago someone wanted to
try something similar. Unfortunately, I didn't pay it any mind. :(
I would get busy contacting the various mobo mfgrs. and see if they have
something to fit the bill.

Flashed BIOS - IDE controller problems by
Storm
Hi,
I have been having a bit of a problem with one of my
machines, and I was hoping someone could help.
Here's the story:
I flashed the BIOS on my TCommate MB, P2BXA Rev. 1.02,
with a BIOS directly from the manufacturer. It updated
the BIOS from v. 1.01 to 1.06. The specs on the machine
are as...

floppy disk by
joni
I have a floppy disk that cannot be read and I want to
destroy the disk. I have pulled apart the case and cut up
the film part of the disk. Is the data stored on the film
only? I was told not to touch the round disk in the
middle when handling the disk. Is information stored there
as well?

Floppy Disk by
anon
Hi. When I click the A Drive icon in "My Computer" (with a
disk in the drive), it "thinks" about it for a moment
(with crunching and whirring sounds), then asks me if I
want to format the disk - I don't, I just want to access
it.
When I click "no", it stops and won't open the new window.
This has...

Floppy Disk Drive with Delayed Problem by

Hi,
I have a Compaq Contura 410C laptop (bought around 1997) which
I do not use a lot. When I first power it up (external power, not battery),
the floppy disk drive works just fine for about 10 minutes. Afterwards,
I have trouble reading floppy disks (drive not ready type of problem).
I...

Floppy drive fails to detect diskette change by
Mike
Sometimes, after I change diskettes, Windows 98SE fails to
recognize the new diskette. Specifically, it believes the
two floppies have identical file structures- same folders,
same files, same usage, same everything. Pressing "F5" to
refresh the drive accomplishes nothing. Only rebooting
Windows...
