Peer share mapping by
dick
w2k can't map to w98se shares, but can ping the w98se OK.
W2k has 2 IP addresses. Only first IP in list can map OK
to w98 stations in that subnet, 2nd IP in list can't. Box
says "network path not found". Mapping w98 to w2k gives
same message.
No trouble mapping w2k shares from 2-IP host, or...

Peer-to-peer networking problems by
Charles Chip Carl
I am an IT analyst at a medium sized company. I have a
peer-to-peer network setup consisting mostly of Win 98
machines but there are a few Win XP machines. There are
two issues that I would like to get a little help with if
possible.
1. Sometimes on the Win 98 machines, when you open
network...

I am trying to get a '98 desktop & a XP Pro to work in a
peer to peer setup. I have the networking card, and have
managed to have the XP to recognise the connection, but
nothing else beyond that.
I would like to have the laptop be able to access the
printer & modem attached to the desktop, as well...

PeerToPeer XP to 98 -Can't ping XP from 98 PC. by
BKeller
Hello,
I'm trying to get an XP and 98 PC to share files.
First of all I know the network cards work on both
machines because of previous configurations.
I'm using a null cable instead of a hub.
I set up the XP with a 192.168.1.2 & 255.255.255.0 Ip
config.
I set up the 98 machine with 1.3 (same...

Permissions problem--98SE to XP Home SP2 by
Peter L Reader
I have a Win XP Home SP2 computer networked to a Win 98 SE through an
ActionTec DSL router. When I first installed the network over a year
ago, I followed the prompts and everything worked fine. Somehow over
the past several months, the Win 98 box lost its ability to access a
new share on the XP...

Phantom connections causing problems by
Larry
Apology for a longish post. Is there a way to force supposedly open
files to be closed so they can be backed up?
This involves Win98 on peer-to-peer network. One computer is
"designated" server and has the main application and data accessed by
the other computers in the workgroup, whose OSes...

David H.
Hello,
I gave a new Computer Name to one of my Win98SE
PC's in my home network 98 & XP.
Now I have the New name and Old Name showing

I have tried re-booting, it still remains?
