SaveAs box displays inverted file list by
Dagwood Bumstead
For the last couple of weeks the SaveAs box (or Open box
etc) has been displaying the list of files in *descending*
order.
Does anyone know how to correct this, so that they list in
normal ascending order?
I've never seen or heard of this problem and I've got a
sneaky suspicion that this is a...

Desktop clock loses time and computer freezes up for several seconds by
Jerry
This is a new motherboard using AMD 2600 Athlon
My desktop clock loses time and the computer freezes up
for 2 seconds to 10 seconds then operates normally.
These are the only obvious symptoms.
When I try to de-fragment it will only go to about
36 percent and then starts over.

CPU Performance by
Keith
This is a rather odd one.
One of my companies PC's was running rather slow. So I
installed some monitoring software.
What this showed, was that although the system was idle
the CPU was sitting at 85% - 100% usage.
The really odd thing was that, if I started to wiggle the
mouse about, the usage...

My friend has an old Micron MPC Pro Q pc running Win 98. He's on dialup
ISP. His modem quit the other day, and we're trying to put a replacement
in.
Once we physically get the new one in, is it as simple as going through the
"add hardware" Win 98 routine to finish the install (plus running...

System Performance Problem by
Ellis Hillinger
I have a performance problem with my Win 98 system. It is a Dell with a P
III / 550 MHz and 128 MB memory with 700 MB of free disk space.
The symptom often seems to be certain web sites that hang for no reason. I
believe I finally traced it to another problem today. On occasions after
the...

There is an article in the MS knowledgebase that addresses my problem,
only none of the solutions suggested there seem to apply to my

changes I made to my system...
