video card issues by
Shane
Hi all, hopefully posting this to several groups isn't a problem. My parents
have an old dell from maybe 6 years ago, and their display recently started
getting vertical lines through it, so I assumed that the video card had
gone. I got a new one and threw it in (a better card than the one they...

Virus? Malware? by
Dennis
A friend's husband was where he shouldn't have been on the net. There
is no longer a dial up connection set to use. You can not set up a new
dial up or use the Internet Wizard to set up an internet connection.
In the add remove programs is listed %DosHereName% but it can't be
uninstalled. A search...

Is the latest KB 891711 supposed to be in STARTUP by
Don
I'm confused with the language being used in the newsgroups about whether or
not 891711 is supposed to show in STARTUP as a checked item and if it should
show listed in ctrl-alt-del.
I'm using W98SE and had installed the original which caused me problems so I
uninstalled it. It showed in STARTUP...

XP SP2 with NTFS Hacked while 98SE system stays alive by
Daniel aka Dan or Dan W.
This is Dan W. who stupid f___ing hackers tried to shut me down with
their so called smarts --- ended up interupting LinkSyS router signal, locked
me out of my own settings, and proved my point to Microsoft that Windows XP
SP2 is not secure. These people hacked through the router, locked me out...

SPL
While connected to my remote unix server though an emulation program (static
ip dsl), it hangs if keystrokes are not made within a certain period of
time. Otherwise, it is fine if communication is made.
I have to disconnect and re-connect, and everything is fine, as long as
keyboard activity is...

Phantom Acrobat Reader opening on web page view by
Fr@nk
Hello. I'm posting this question in this group because I think it may be a
Windows 98SE file association issue. I noticed when I go to a particular web
site using Internet Explorer 6, (I think the offender the last time was
www.mobilemag.com), I briefly see the Acrobat Reader 4 (that's the...

My daughter's laptop (out of the blue she says) suddenly forces her to
start-up in safe mode. I have had her hold down the F8 key and then select
"normal" but the machine still starts in safe mode. She has also tried going
into msconfig and restoring the back up but to no avail. She's 6 hours...

Download for fixing Win 98se shutdown hanging? by
Nancy
I used Windows 98se years ago and I seem to remember some
kind of patch that fixed Windows shutdown problem.
Does anyone know if this patch is still available?
It fixed the problem right away. I have no idea where to

Thanks
