CD Rom Drive Problem (more info) by
Brad
Hi,
Thanks to everyone who responded to my various posts relating to
this problem. I hope I didn't annoy anyone. I did perform the cleaning,
lube, etc. which some of you suggested, but that didn't solve the problem. I
found technical information on the web about CD disk media, but not...

Life of a CD Rom Disk by
Brad
Hi,
From time to time, I come across an article about CD roms, etc.
What I have learned so far, CD-R (I use) is better than CD-RW for long
term storage of important data. Also, how they are stored can have
a bearing on their "life".
I keep CD roms in a dark cool location. To test the integrity...

Win 98 SE and 40 GB USB drive : only 6 GB visible .. by
R.Wieser
Hello all,
I've recently put a 40 GB drive in an external enclosure with an USB
connection, but have problems with using the drive.
When I try to partition the drive (using the standard W98se FDISK) it comes
back as a a drive of only 6 GB (which probably has to do with the 32
GB-limit). Applying...

Threat by mystery file by

A couple of spyware searches indicated that the follow file with a font
extension is a severe threat. It shows the location as
C/windows/fonts/acrsecI.fon. I have been unable to locate such a file so I
can remove it. None of the fonts show up with this name. I haven't
registered the spyware...

My CD-RW drive worked just fine until a few days ago. It recognized all CD-

it simply stopped working. When the drawer is opened, the light comes on,
but when I insert a CD-R or CD-RW I get the message "Q is not accessible.
The device is not ready." I clicked on the...
