eTrust EZ AV ver 7 by
heirloom
Just got the notice on this one, eTrust EZ AV ver 7......plugs some holes in
the .zip file scanning and has a new gui. Note: DO NOT have BHO Demon
running when you install and reboot the new version. It causes BHO to pop
up and freeze. Problem was solved by booting to Safe Mode, unchecking...

Rising Anti-Virus Free query by
Hugh Doherty
I need a new free anti-virus program to work with my beloved WinMe, and
Rising Anti-virus Free and Avast seem to be the only ones around.
Avast stops support for WinMe at the end of this year, leaving Rising
as my best bet. Anyone with experience with Rising Free? Good? Bad?

Sudden Abnormal mouse erratic behaviour by
newbie2000
My computer, running WinXP Pro with 128 MB RAM, today has started acting very
strange. Although normally it has to be double-clicked to open a file or
folder, now it sometimes opens files/folders/e-mail with only one mouse
click, not two. However, it is very inconsistent, sometimes requiring...

I didn't realise, but... by
Shane
Mike,
You're probably aware of this, but just in case you're not: Dial-up is now
considerably more expensive than Fixed-rate! That in itself is not really
anything new - serious surfing as a dial-up user always was approximately as
expensive as having, say, a daughter 'always on the phone' -...

[Win Me] Automatic Updates isn't working by
\(yet another\) Steve
My problem...
Automatic Updates is not working on my system and it had worked before. For
about the past few years I've had it turned-off (update manually) but turned
it back on a few months ago. I even got the Windows Update for AU
(manually). Then I started to notice that there were critical...

re install of WMP9 by
Hillneerg
After some problems with Nero, I had to delete some codecs and, since then
have had a few issues with WMP 9 (video stopping, bitty sounds etc) so I
attempted to repair any possible problems by re-installing WMP 9 over itself.
It runs through the install and then says that the installation could not...

Computers and Daylight Saving Time by
Justin Thyme
This year DST becomes effective on a new schedule. I can change my
computer's clock manually but does anyone know of an application or program
update (for Millennium systems) that will do it automatically?
Thanks,
Ken Bland

[email protected]
I have a HP Pavillion PC running Windows ME. The machine will not boot up.
As soon as I press the power button there is a blue screen with the HP logo
on it and thats where it stops. I have tried to boot with the system
recovery disks, didn't work. I tried to boot it from a Windows 2000 CD,...

Time for a new operating system?? by
[email protected]
I used winme just until a little after they stopped offering support
and they admitted, at the very end, that it was a dud that cannot be
secured. I found windows2000 that I like and is supported but how
about trying Linux and give up the spyware virus magnet, especially on
a system that cannot...

CA Anti-Virus Question by
SGB
Hey folks!
Any ideas as to why CA Anti-Virus application will not load?
Tried removing it to reinstall... haha... yeah, right.
Checking here with the know-it-alls (LOL) before I go to the CA website.
TIA!
P.S. Spybot found absolutehttp.dll during a scan. I removed the spyware. Did
removing it...

Not sure if this particular topic belongs in networking or hardware.. so I
figure general will do for now.
I had a little incident with my main WinME pc the other day. The situation
had me seriously considering installing XP (yikes!). Here's what
happened.. suddenly Explorer (the directory...
