When upgrading my win98 pc to xp,

(same disk).
The problem i have now is that, the "drive is not ready"
error comes up. I insert the win 98 boot disk (as it

Randall
While running a disk defrag the screensaver popped up and
froze the computer. (This happened at some point while I
was away from the computer asleep. I won't defrag without
watching again!) The only recourse was to restart the
computer. That failed to happen as Windows would not load
up. I...

I have a computer running Windows 98. It had a 20gb HD

my DVD burner, I thought it might be wise to get a little
more disk space. I got the specs for my current 20GB and
found a 60GB HD that is the same make rpm, all that

Windows is not recognizing my crdw by
velma
I had a working cdrw in one machine and installed it in
another. Windows does not recognize the burner as a
burner but as a cdrom. I have a 2nd cdrom and it works
fine. Now my cdrw is not listed under my computer at
all. What can I do to resolve my problem?

defrag takes 3 hours and still running by
bill williams
Hi,
I have 98SE with a 4GB disk (C:).
I have run defrag several times, and it gets
to about 26% after about 3 hours, and then
seems to get stuck. I have run it in safe mode,
and windows mode (with all apps, including AV
and firewall shut down) with same result.
What is going on here?
thanks
bill
