$$$$$make tons of cash EASY$$$$$ by [email protected]
What is $5 and 15 minutes when it can make you earn $100,000 ? Not much, if you ask me... You've probably seen a lot of those kind of messages over forums and newsgroups, and the explanation for this can be given in two words: IT WORKS! But how on earth, will you ask me, does it actually works?...

$20 upgrade from Win 98 to Win 98 SE still available? by Ron
I want to buy an external hard drive from Seagate or Western Digital. Both product families, however, specify a minimum of Win 98 SE. I only have Win 98. Any ideas (please)on how I can get ahold of an upgrade disk, which, I understand, costs around $20? Many thanks,

$WIN_NT$.~BT by Gavin
Hi I tried to install windows xp onto a 98 machine and provoked it to do so by running the winnt.ext file from the i386 directory rather than go through the usual set-up procedures. What happened was that win 98 now doesn't load up at all with the computer saying it finds no bootable media on the...

PING Bill in Colo. by Curt Christianson[_2_]
Oh well couple of days late responding. Just curious Bill,I was about to undertake a EE, and got married instead. Obviously long-range plans aren't my forte. Just kidding, I have the utmost respect and admiration for women. What was your main area of discipline? I used to be quite a ham...

"...file is linked to missing mfc42.dll..." by flamingokacky
....this message is then followed by ":6883" or ":6696" or ":6779." The thing is, the files is NOT missing. I found it in the system folder where it's supposed to be. I even used System File Checker Tool to install a new copy of the file from my Win 98Se CD and received a notice that was...

"16 bit" and "32 bit" code? by Bill in Co.
Can someone enlighten me here. Specifically WHAT are they referring to? It seems that Win3.x is supposedly associated with the term "16 bit code" and the Win 9x and above is associated with the term "32 bit code". Now WHAT exactly are they referring to? The address bus? The data bus? The...

"98 Lite" by [email protected]
Hi, Some posts in this NG mentioned "98 Lite". From the name, my impression is this is a stripped down version of Windows 98. Is it more compact than a "Custom" install of Win98se? Thank You in advance, John

Win98SE. 512 RAM (2*256). Gigabyte GA-6VXE7+ mobo. Recently had all sorts of apps crashing with invalid page faults. I made the mistake of running scandisk, which found and "fixed" numerous errors - cross-linked files typically. Long story investigation, memtest86+ revealed a squillion errors...

"Boot it" question for Gary Terhune by mrbigbry
Hi Gary it's Bryan. A couple of months ago you recommended I use "boot it" to split my hard drive while converting from WIN98 to WIN98SE without having any down time on my computer so I could attach my USB external hard drive on my system. The conversion went fine. My next question is how do...
