Help. My son's computer is running Windows 98 SE. I
installed the operating system and created some folders
for his music, pictures, etc. Everything worked fine for
2 months. I went to create a new folder for him, but
when I right click on the desktop, the "NEW" option is
now missing?! It is...

"NEW" option missing from "FILE" and "DESKTOP" by
Enrie
Not sure if this is related to the latest security update.
There is no longer a "New" option on the "File" menu or
when clicking on the 'Desktop"
I have reinstalled my video driver, no change.
I saw something on the knowledge base but it seemed to
refer to older versions of IE and WIN 98.

"Open With..." by
Nigel Stapley
If I shift+right-click on a file and select "Open With...", the list of
programs which then opens includes programs which I no longer have. Is
there any way of removing these from the list?

"Open With..." shortcut pops up on my desktop during startup by
Phil James
The program whose header reads "Open With" pops up on my desktop during
startup. I delete it and it keeps coming back. I don't know the name of
the program, so I can't find it to "kill" it on startup.
This began shortly after I had downloaded several Microsoft "critical
updates."
Anybody know...

"PhoneTray Dialup 2.0" like by
-z
I would like to find a software solution like "PhoneTray Dialup 2.0" offers,
but, alas, NOT for Win98; that is, with "call waiting" I can know and accept
phone calls while on line. So far, all I have found is the above, which I
cannot use.
Thank you

"Pretend Microsoft" email = virus by
Echuca
Hello
Have just received & deleted two fairly authenic looking emails supposedly
from Microsoft but actually emails containing trojans/viruses - and detected
by
my anti-virus software (www.Vet.com.au). Both had attachments.
I know these are not new but thought I'd bring them to the attention...

"Recycled" Folder by

I notice that there is a folder called "Recycled" in the root C Drive. It has a couple of dozen "DC" files in it. What is this folder for if there is already a recycle bin? What are DC files?
Thanks,
Sasha

How do I get myself into these messes?
