Missing files from C by
Al
I downloaded new dat files for Mcafee and something
happened. I reloaded Windows Me and found that I had alot
of doc and pictures folder missing from C. Help is there
a program that will restore these files? I know they are
still there somewhere but do not show up in the directory

When starting up my Windows Me PC, I frequently see an
error message appear: Spool 32 has caused an error in
SPOOL32.EXE. Spool 32 will now close. If you continue to
experience problems try restarting your computer.
The only option is 'Close'
I click on 'Close' and usually there is no further...

Just an enquiry...not flippant...but I managed to duel boot WinME with SuSE
9 Prof.. joined up with a Linux user group It will remain anon.. ...
mentioned my duel boot setup...my point.. and question.. .purely from a
WinME point of view... thus the post to this group...did...

Scandisk not working. by

Hi. I'm running Windows ME and I am having problems with
Scandisk. I can do a Standard scan but when I try to do a
thorough scan Scandisk locks up. Is it possible to repair
Scandisk without doing a full Windows Installation? I
dread having to do that.

I have read the newsgroups for several years now and have recommended and
installed AVG on numerous machines without error. Recently I suggested that
a friend download it to his XP machine and he said that it caused his
machine to crash (no further info).
Recently my copy of mcaffee started to play...

Folder Options by

When I click on a plain folder it comes up with the 'open
with' box. Right click brings up two OPENS and an
Explore. The second open and the explore both work but
the first (BOLD) open again comes up with the 'open with'
box. Not destructive but very annoying.

I have a doubt. I've been doing research on an integrated application that
appears to be regarded as an auto update facility for Windows ME.
Upon inquiry and investigation of a colleague's Windows ME system the
application in question seems to be "aumagic.exe" which appears to fire
during Windows...

Infected files in Temporary Internet archives by

Having changed my anti-virus program, I appear to have a
number of infected files which cannot be 'repaired'
or 'deleted'.
These files' suffix is either 'jar' or 'cab' and are all
in Temporary Internet Files.
1. The 'Jar' files have been detected as infected by
different types of trojan horse...

Computer hungs when running IE by

Everytime I try to update windows through IE Update Windows the computer
hungs and I have to press the reset button. Not even Ctrl+Alt+Del works. I
