I want to write down the BIOS info on my old Compaq just in case I need to manually enter it if it some day forgets it. F10 got me to the right menu but I couldn't view any of the floppy or hard disk information. Highlighting the correct item and hitting "Enter" did nothing. Any ideas? Thanks

i turn on the computer wth the startup disk,and regaurdless of what i try the computer gos to the windows 98 and then to the compac presario then it hangs up at that point. ive tried going threw the safe mode and it does the same thing. can any one please give me some advise as what to do?????

In the bios, UDMA can be set to auto/off/etc for each device on each channel. In the control panel, a DMA checkbox will appear for some devices and not others. I assume some devices do not support DMA. What is the difference? Does one of these settings over ride the other? bg
