Thankyou PattyL for telling me how to use what you said
last time. and here is what you said:
On the sound card, look for a sticker with an FCC ID
number. Then go to
this site to determine the manufacturer of your card.

"Insert Windows CD" by
Junji Tsuzuki
Every time when we try to install a new hardware to a version of
Windows, Windows ask to put Windows CD into the CD drive and hit OK. The
next message is that the installation program cannot find a certain
driver file such as a *.vxd or alike while it is showing, for example,
E: Win98 in the folder...

"Printers" moved to Device Manager by
RJL
Thanks to Hewlett-Packard's so-called "tech" so-called "support," my
computer is now left unable to install any printer.
When I "add printer" from the PRINTERS folder, and the wizard does some
file copying, but the newly added printer does not appear in the
PRINTERS folder, but rather in the...

"Restart" instead of "Shut Down" by
Adam
My system is running Win98SE.
When I try to "Shut Down", it does a "Restart" instead.
"Disable fast shutdown" is already selected.
Anyone know how to fix this?

"shutdown" turns into "restart" by
namsilat
This machine is running Windows 98 SE. I have run into a strange
occurrence. If I go into MSDOS mode even once, when I select
"shutdown", the machine would then restart instead of shutting down.
If I don't enter MSDOS mode, then the machine shuts down accordingly.
What's the problem?

$$$$$make tons of cash EASY$$$$$ by
[email protected]
What is $5 and 15 minutes when it can make you earn $100,000 ?
Not much, if you ask me...
You've probably seen a lot of those kind of messages over forums and newsgroups, and the explanation for this can be given in two words: IT WORKS!
But how on earth, will you ask me, does it actually works?...

"missing" .vxd files by
J. P. Gilliver
Visiting a friend over the weekend, his W98SE system wouldn't boot - this
happened while I was watching, and he said he'd not had any problems the
last time he'd used it (the previous day).
It came up with the usual sort of message '98 does when an important file is
missing, and said ("one or...

"port capture" to a network printer by
Donald Campbell
A lot of printers now have a network port so that they can sit directly
on a LAN without the need of a PC.
I have these set up on Win98 and they work fine from Windows programs,
but not from DOS software.
Does anyone know how to print from a DOS program to a printer in this
fashion?
