Disable or Bypass New Hardware Detection by
[email protected]
Hi,
I have converted my computers and my Wife's desktop computer to
dual boot computers (Win98se or WinXP).
Recently I installed a MediaLink WiFi adapter in my Wife's dual boot
desktop computer. Note: MediaLink's driver is for WinXP, etc. but
incompatible with Win98. Note: She doesn't...

Kernel-Ex dont run Firefox properly by
[email protected]
Kernel-Ex Version 4.5.12 says it's intended to run Firefox 8.0.
While FF 8.0 does load, it's crashes almost everytime I close it, and
often when I clear the history (cache, cookies, etc). A few times this
crash locked up the whole computer, which has not happened to me in
years.
Before this, I...

This is why the Win-9x/ME forum on MSFN.org is a piece of **** by
98 Guy
The little prick moderators on MSFN.org have this rule, and they even
apply it to windows-9x/me, even though Micro$haft could give 2 ****s
about those old versions of Windoze any more.
The chicken-**** retards that run msfn don't realize that the only way
they're going to GROW THE MEMBERSHIP of...

Why do I need a Monitor driver by
[email protected]
Im running Win98SE. I just got a different monitor, and temporarily
moved my former one to another computer. Everytime I boot now, it keeps
asking me to install a driver for this monitor. I dont have the driver,
but I'm sure I could find it online. Yet, WHY? The monitor works fine.
This just...

I disagree.

Ghostery blocks HTTP requests and redirects according to their source
address in two ways: Cookie Blocking and Cookie Protection (where
available). When Cookie Protection is enabled, if a cookie is selected

Speaking of Kernelex .... by
pedro
A couple of years back I tried to get kernelex going on this 98SE box,
using the steps I had seen here. The result was less than glorious -
wouldn't boot at all, and I had to resort to using the EBD to get any
sense. Removing kernelex and reinstating the MS original restored
normal...

This group to function as replacement for MSFN.ORG Windows-98 forum by
98 Guy
Until MSFN.ORG comes back up (it seems pretty mortally wounded for the
past few days) I hereby deem that this Usenet Newsgroup
(microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion) is to be used as a place where
former MSFN users can regroup and continue discussions regarding windows
98 matters.
Any Questions?

Delete the file Kernel32.dll by
[email protected]
Whenever you install Windows98, always delete the file called
Kernel32.dll (located in the Windows\System folder.)
This file is dangerous, and attracts malware. Once it's removed, it's
nearly impossible to get any malware.
Be Safe! As soon as Windows98 is installed, boot to dos. Go to...

It's time to Quit using Win98 by
[email protected]
I've held on to Win98 for years, and always loved it. I've added
everything possible such as Kernal-Ex, to keep it going, and struggled
to cope with incompatible software that requires newer versions of
Windows, particularly browsers.
The time has come to retire Win98, and allow Microsoft to...

Have you made one
Guy98 & All "Virtual Win98?"
You mean run win-98 as a virtual machine, being emulated on a system
running XP or some other NT-based OS?
In order to do that, I would have to be comfortable with the idea that
the "host" OS is NT-based, and I would...
