Windows Explorer- abnormal termination by

When I click on a folder in Windows Explorer, it beeps and
closes (without expanding to see the folder's contents).

Running WinME (OEM) on a Compaq Presario. Get "Explorer has caused an
error in unknown" as soon as desktop appears after boot. Don't know
