That message can occur for many reasons, whenever a wininit.ini file is =
created by some program.=20
The file is used to change files after a reboot, that are in use when =
Windows is running.
Next time it happens, find the file "wininit.bak", open it in Notepad, =

I am using SHGetSpecialFolder with CSIDL_PROGRAM_FILES to get an install
directory. On my Win2000 system, this works fine. On my Win98 system, it
fails with an "invalid argument" error.
I tried setting up a loop and calling with a range of values. All
appropriate values worked correctly except...

I recently reinstalled Windows 98SE, and since I usually
leave my PC on permanently, I never checked about
Restarting or Shutting Down. Now when I pressed the Start
button, I discovered I don't have a Shut Down option. Any
ideas anybody?

anoying file disorder by

windows has gained an anoying problem.
when I arrange icons in my computer or windows explorer
the drive letters and names apear in reverse order. ( I:
H: G: F: E: D: C: A: )
also the same show files display you get when viewing the
system directory appears when I view a cd directory.
any help...

I stupidly upgraded to IE6, then to compound the stupidity I attempted
to upgrade my good ol' Win98 to Win98SE with the ultimate goal of then
upgrading to WinXP. Now I'm sure you'll agree that's a lot of upgrading.

context menu and select "New" (looking to create a new
Shortcut for instance) there is a delay of about a second,

When configuring folders (specifically, changing from the default "Large Icons" to anything else) and then clicking "Like Current Folder" on the "View" tab of "Folder Options", some folders will display accordingly -- but most in deeper layers do not. I still have to manually configure the options...

Even though I have selected "show and manage the pair as a
single file" under "managing pairs of web pages and
folders" in Windows Explorer folder options, they still
appear as two things and have to be moved or deleted
separately. Solution?

page fault in module shell32.dll at 0177:7fcbcf19 and
also Ddhelp has caused a general protection fault in
module gdi.exe, at 0002:00000057. i run windows 98 second

Hi.
Sorry for posting here but I couldn't find more appropriate group.
I remember using an app that auto-resized Explorer windows after
double-clicking its lower-right corner.
Can anybody remember its name?or anything that would give me similar
functionality?
