Windows 98 Uninstall by

Having problems uninstalling Windows 98 from the CD-Rom
Disk I installed it with. A message comes up "This CD-Rom
is from an older version of Windows than the one you are
presently using. Setup functionality from this disk will
be disabled." So I am unable to uninstall. Anyone have

of file from one set of disks that results in the following error message:

Other files from the same disks copy correctly, and similar files...

How do i create a backup disk of my files when the backup
option does'nt seem to work or respond?It tells me this
option is not installed and wont let me activate it.I am

Missing FIle fntldr.exe by

HELP...
Everytime I log in I get a window which says that I'm missing a file :
fntldr.exe
When I close the window, another pops up which says the file fntdr.exe
should be in win.ini
When I close this sencond window, the system finishes loading the desk top
icons and seems to work normally.

Limit on External HD size? by

I've been using an old desktop with 98SE on it to store all
the mp3's I've been ripping from all my music cd's and I'm
running out of space. I'm wondering if there's a size
limit to an external HD (connected either through USB or
Firewire). I'm hoping to get a 160gig HD.

reformatting hard drive by

I am reformatting hard drive for a friend on an HP system
running Windows 98. When I put in the system recovery
disk I get an error: "Can't ready read drive M." M being
the CD-ROM drive. The drive appears to be functioning ok.
Any insight would be helpful. Thanks.

C: and D: In device manager there is only one drive listed. If you go to a
command prompt it is also showing C: and D:. (with the same directory

I really hope someone can help me. My OS is Win98. It
freezes continually causing me to shut down manually.
When I reboot it give the message...Windows was not shut
down properly...etc. must run Scan Disk. The Scan Disk

When installing Windows 98 SE using the original CD ROM, I get his message:
Not enough space on D
To install Win 98 on drive C, you need 21 mb of space on D. D has only 1.4 mb
To take care of this problem, please remove some files from hard drive.
Hard drive is drive C. How would that free...
