Text Case Problem by caroloyl
I have a couple of Me conundrums going on--this first: In April I had a new computer built to boot either Millennium or XP. Both OS are on appropriate partitions (C=FAT32; G=NTFS) on a 160 GB drive. When I use Windows Explorer in Me (but not XP) I find all folder and file names with 8 or fewer...

Avast Pro by Corday[_3_]
To get a good handle on what Avast really had in mind for the end of the year, I Emailed the Sales Dept. asking if I upgraded from free to Pro if I'd get support after 1/1/10. Part of their reply: Thank you for your email, and your interest in avast! antivirus products. We are sorry, the...

Wordperfect by Corday[_3_]
To shorten up on the preceding thread, I loved WP's graphics/icons book in full color. It made it so much easier to get what I needed quickly without checking the installed pics, adding discs or finally going on line to find something. The hard part with WP or Word is messing with those...

ME installation by Noel Paton[_3_]
'I tried loading ME'" - "3 disks from HP that are system recovery disks"...... those system disks are rather critical! are they ones that were created by HP, or ones that you burned on the system after purchased? I don't really understand why there should be three of them, unless one is the OS,...

Merry Crimbo peeps by Shane[_10_]
Kind of sad how for the last few years this group has been virtually empty Crimbo Day. It used to be almost IM (which I don't use, which maybe made it seem a bit more special? I suppose the appeal of IM is the feedback carrot). I think the microsoft.public.windowsme groups were invigorating...

Really busy these days, mange tout? by The Great Mooshta
Perhaps I should talk about tonight's dinner? (Tagliatelle with salmon - probably with red pepper pesto out of the jar). So how do you make Windows Me slice garlic? Incidentally, today's moniker is to make it *really* easy for the Government to know who the insults are from. The Real Shane

Free Antivirus Program for ME by webster72n
Since the free edition of Avast stopped supporting Windows ME, I found this quite suitable substitute: http://www.clamwin.com/ Depending on one's attitude towards OpenSource software, I personally don't have any objections, if quality is the main objective, and I found that to be the...
