Unexpected 2nd disk drive by
Jim
In win98se "my computer" lists drives c: and d:. They
have the same names. The d: drive seems to be a copy or
mirror of c:. There is no second hard drive in the
computer.
In "safe mode" only the C; drive is displayed. This
computer also freezes shortly after starting windows in
normal mode.

Uninstalling IE6 by
D-man
There is no optiont to remove IE6 from the add/remove
menu. The only option you get when you click on IE6 in the
displayed list of programs is to 'add a component'
or 'repair' IE6.
Why? I can't seem to find the file(s) that are repeatedly
loading mal-ware into memory while I am on-line. ...

installed it with. But there is a message saying that the
CD-Rom Disk is from an older version of Windows than the
one I am presently using. So, setup functionality from
the disk is being disabled, not allowing me to uninstall
it!!!! Any...

UPDATE: Most Common Problem With Floppy Disk Drives by
Brad
Hi,
One problem floppy drive in a laptop, I hear a "wine" noise (belt slip)
during an attempt to read a floppy. I removed the floppy drive and checked
it. I removed the belt and cleaned it with a rubber cleaner/revitalizer.
Afterwards, no more "wine" noise and the floppy drive can read/write...

UPDATE: Same Type of Problem with both Floppy Drive & CD Rom Drive!!! by
Brad
Hi Ben,
Here is more information I forgot to mention:
This laptop had no trouble reading the "burned" CDs before this
trouble started. Note: I often used the CD drive to read a particular
"burned" CD. Now, it has trouble reading that CD.
Floppy drive problem, which started at the...

UPDATE: Same Type of Problem with both Floppy Drive & CD Rom Drive!!! by
Brad
Hi,
Note: I cleaned both drives, floppy & CD, (Compaq Presario 1060 laptop
yr 1997) but problem remains. I used a "lab" type of power supply as
substitute for latpop's external power supply. Also, see original post below.
More tests made since my original post exposed something very...

Here is my sad tale. I moved my Gateway PC that was
operating beautifully about two miles to a new home. I
lovingly and carefully packed the computer in the
original box using the styrofoam insert. When I got
everything hooked up and pushed Start, I got this god-
awful noise that I instantly...

upgrading a hard drive WITHOUT a working CD to reinstall the OS by
SlickRCBD[_2_]
I just aquired a 60gb drive that I'd like to use to replace the C drive
in a win98 system. I no longer have a working OEM CD, and a generic
win98 CD would not have the proper drivers. I'm thinking of keeping the
dying 20gb drive as a backup.
Is it possible to temporarily disconnect the ZIP...
