Recent History Folder by
Strack
I have noticed that recently there is a file in c:\windows\recent
called desktop.ini that was not there in the past. I run deltree with
minimal boot and it is deleted but recreated along with the recent
folder at startup. Is this supposed to be there and I just didn't see
it until now?

mrscadillac

need my pixels set at 800x600, from 640x480. I know HOW to do this, but after
re-starting, it just reverts to the 640. This happened about a week ago.
Please don't suggest system restore, because hasn't been working for...

The Howler
I maintain a set of ME computers at a school and lately 6 of them started
hanging.
The symptom is the same on all of them: if you try to launch Windows
Explorer or the Control Panel, the system hangs. You can Ctrl-Delete and
kill the explorer process to do a bit more work, but it will hang again...

Disabling Restore altogether by
Jonny
System restore is disabled here. After this, I went to every drive and
FAT/FAT32 partition in my system in Win98SE and deleted the "_Restore"
folder. Rebooted to ME, and tried to delete the same, won't let me. And, I
find the the same folder has been rewritten to all the partitions...

My Daughter's computer started this just yesterday.
The taskbar does NOT show her open programs.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this happened and how to show the
programs on the task bar again?

Will ME make SE HDD unbootable? by
Norman
When I set up this machine, I originally installed SE. Many partitions and
lots of programs along with transferred data.
Had lots of problems, likely due to hardware and the fact that Ultra likely
rebadged some RAM from 400 to 266 without changing SPD chip. One morning I
find machine rebooted...

manner without any request or deliberate action by the
user?

Mart - "not enough free memory to run this program" by
caroloyl
Hi Mart
I ran Samsung's proggy on C and it showed four errors before it stopped
checking with only 6% of the drive done. I ran it three times in all, once
getting as far as 27% before it stopped dead in its tracks (arrow keys or
"exit" didn't work so I "reset"). I ran the utility on D also...
